Students, teachers and staff at Brocklehurst Middle school in the Kamloops/Thompson school district will benefit from $200,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

Safety improvements are now underway for the Summit Drive/Notre Dame Drive exit ramp in Kamloops, said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.

The British Columbia government announced an investment of $4.16 million in Thompson Rivers University (TRU) for skills training in high-priority trades seats.

Firefighting aircraft will be visible in the skies above West Kelowna at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, as part of an aviation demonstration associated with the Wildland Fire Canada 2016 conference.

Effective at noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, the current Category 2 and Category 3 open burning prohibitions will be rescinded throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Yesterday crews conducted the final large scale rock-clearing blast, marking a significant construction milestone on the Trans-Canada Highway four-laning project located approximately 40 kilometres east of Kamloops. 

BC Wildfire Service crews will help BC Timber Sales staff conduct a prescribed burn near Clemina in the Clearwater Fire Zone. This 33-hectare burn will be completed between Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 15.

Almost two kilometres of median barrier will be installed on the Highway 5 North corridor in Kamloops, which will help prevent traffic crossing over the median and causing serious head-on collisions.
