Health authority catch-up program details

Vancouver Coastal Health: In-school immunization clinics offered to grades K-12 with emphasis on second dose of measles for kindergarten, grades 1 and 2. Reminders will be provided to the parents or guardians of anyone who is not up-to-date. Enhanced clinics (increased hours and weekends) provided in community health centres, mobile clinics and public-health units.

Island Health: In-school immunization clinics offered to grades K-12 with emphasis on second dose of measles for kindergarten and grades 1 and 2. Reminder phone call and letters to the parents or guardians of anyone who is not up-to-date. Increased number of public health clinics. Provision of after-school clinics.

Interior Health: In-school immunization clinics offered to grades K-12 with emphasis on second dose of measles for kindergarten, grades 1 and 2. Increased public-health clinics and a review of all records of school children, with reminder phone calls/letters to the parents or guardians of anyone not up-to-date.

Fraser Health: Information campaign will include letters sent to the parents or guardians of children missing immunizations with options on how to get immunized. Clinics for all grades in schools and through community centres to take place throughout the region.

Northern Health: In-school immunization clinics offered to grades K-12 with emphasis on second dose of measles for kindergarten, grades 1 and 2. Increased public health clinics and a review of all records of school children, with reminder phone calls/letters to the parents or guardians of anyone not up-to-date.

First Nations Health Authority: Community health nurses providing enhanced immunization clinics to all school-age children.

Provincial Health Services Authority/BC Centre for Disease Control: Orders and distributes vaccines provincially. Operates the provincial immunization registry. Leads the development of immunization guidelines.

Pharmacists will also be part of the efforts to increase immunization rates.
