VANCOUVER - Following its annual release event, 2009 Bordeaux vintage wines are available in all BC Signature Liquor Stores. Now in its 27th year, this annual vintage formal release event is unique in Canada.

Bordeaux is a region in southwest France that is world-famous for producing prestigious wines of exceptional quality.

BC Liquor Stores has a long-standing relationship with its suppliers in Bordeaux. This relationship has enabled it to provide its customers with access to a wide selection of high-quality red and white Bordeaux wines. This Bordeaux vintage offers wines to suit every budget, and many are ready to be enjoyed now.

"In 1982, the Liquor Distribution Branch started doing business with wine suppliers in Bordeaux. Over time, these relationships have enabled us to provide our customers with access to a wide selection of high-quality red and white Bordeaux wines," says Barbara Philip, Master of Wine and Portfolio Manager for Wines of Europe.

BC Liquor Stores has published a 2009 Bordeaux release booklet listing all wines available in this release, along with ratings from various wine industry magazines, detailed tasting notes and information about specific bottle limits. The guide - available in all Signature Stores as well online at http://www.bcliquorstores.com/bordeaux-2009-release - includes a drinkability legend to help customers make informed selections.

"2009 was a near-perfect growing season in Bordeaux. These wines are exceptional. We're pleased to be able to offer a vast selection of high-quality Bordeaux wines in a wide range of price points that will appeal to wine collectors and enthusiasts alike," continued Philip.

Participating stores include the 21 Signature Stores, as well as Dunbar, Caulfeild, Peninsula Village (Surrey) and Brighouse (Richmond). BC Liquor Stores' flagship location at 39th & Cambie will carry the complete range of 2009 Bordeaux. Product selection and quantity may vary by store.

Quick Facts:

  • The 2009 vintage bears many similarities to the 1982 vintage released 27 years ago by the LDB.
  • More than 5,000 cases from 150 wineries, including many prominent Bordeaux wines, will be available to customers on a first-come, first-served basis.
