Stephen Bellringer has been appointed chair of the BC Hydro board of directors, Energy, Mines and Natural Gas Minister Rich Coleman announced today.
Bellringer is a current BC Hydro Board member with extensive experience in business and in the energy sector. Bellringer is the former chair of Retrocom Real Estate Investment Trust and was a director of Canadian Hotel Income Properties. Over the past 20 years, Bellringer has served as president and chief executive officer of Canadian Hotel Income Properties, Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment, BC Gas, Trans Mountain Pipeline and Union Gas Ltd.
Bellringer is past chairman of the University of Windsor and the Canadian Gas Association, past vice-chairman of the BC Business Council, and past director of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation and the Vancouver Board of Trade.
Bellringer has a bachelor of commerce, a master of business administration, and an honorary doctor of laws degree from the University of Windsor.
The chair provides leadership to the BC Hydro Board and co-ordinates its activities in the best interests of BC Hydro. Also, the chair manages the affairs of the board and works closely with the chief executive officer to ensure effective relations with the B.C. government, the public and other stakeholders.
