The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a two men who died following a motor vehicle incident near Quesnel on Aug. 28, 2013.

They were Jiping Fang, aged 52, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, and Larry Leonard Kropp, aged 61, of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Mr. Fang was the driver and Mr. Kropp the passenger in a rental car which was travelling southbound on Highway 97 in the early afternoon of Aug. 28. About 25 kilometres north of Quesnel, the car collided with a northbound semi hauling a chip trailer. A significant fire ensued. Both Mr. Fang and Mr. Kropp were deceased at the scene of the crash.

The BC Coroners Service, WorkSafeBC and the RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The families of both Mr. Fang and Mr. Kropp have been notified of their deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
