Cranbrook is the 113th B.C. municipality to join BizPaL, a program that makes it easier to start and run a business.

BizPaL is an online business-permitting and licence service that saves entrepreneurs time and money and helps them start up faster. Cranbrook's business owners now have access to simplified information about the permits and licences they need to establish and run their businesses.

Launched in 2005, BizPaL is the result of a unique partnership among federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments. This service cuts through the burden of paperwork and red tape that small business owners encounter, helping them focus on business growth and job creation.

Quotes:

Naomi Yamamoto, Minister of State for Tourism and Small Business -

"Small businesses are one of the key economic engines of the province, and we need to ensure they have the support they need to succeed and grow. BizPaL is just one of many programs that help cut red tape and make it easier to do business here in B.C."

Bill Bennett, MLA for Kootenay East -

"BizPaL is an important tool to encourage community investment and economic growth, and offers an opportunity to showcase Cranbrook as business-friendly, helping our local entrepreneurs succeed."

David Wilks, Member of Parliament for Kootenay Columbia -

"The Government of Canada is committed to helping entrepreneurs by reducing the burden of red tape through the online BizPaL service, which makes it easier to find information about the permits and licences they need. BizPaL will enable Cranbrook entrepreneurs to spend more time building their businesses, creating jobs and contributing to Canada's economic growth."

Wayne Stetski, mayor, City of

"We want Cranbrook to be known as a welcoming place for businesses to establish and grow. Partnering with the federal and provincial governments through BizPaL is an important step in reducing barriers to business in our community."
