Young people considering what skills they will need for tomorrow's in-demand occupations will have an interactive, hands-on experience at WorkBC's Find Your Fit tour stop at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo Jan. 13-14, 2015.
Find Your Fit features a variety of interactive career exploration activity stations - including welding, carpentry, accounting and more - offering youth a chance to try their hand at different skills. These youth, who are just beginning to think about potential careers, will be connected with WorkBC's labour market information, tools and services. Parents, teachers and career counsellors may also benefit from the event as they look for ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The provincewide tour will continue as a key component of the Regional LNG Energy Seminar in Kamloops Feb. 3-4, 2015.
Find Your Fit is part of B.C's Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment to re-engineer education and deliver the skilled workforce B.C's growing economy needs. More than 6,400 students took part in the tour at recent Find Your Fit events in Prince George, Fort St. John, Terrace, and Prince Rupert and at Find Your Fit school events in Burns Lake, Delta, North Vancouver, Squamish and Campbell River.
