Young people of Fort St. James will have an opportunity to learn the skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations.
WorkBC’s Find Your Fit tour will be making its next stop at the David Hoy Elementary school on Nov. 9, 2016.
Find Your Fit is an interactive event where individuals of all ages can learn about B.C.’s in-demand careers and test out some of the skills they would need for those occupations. Participants will also get to know career planning tools — such as Blueprint Builder and Career Trek videos — and the job resources and labour market information WorkBC.ca offers.
Parents, teachers and career counsellors may benefit, too — by discovering ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The Find Your Fit event will be open to the public from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Find Your Fit is part of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment to re-engineer education and deliver the skilled workforce needed in B.C.’s growing economy. The tour has had more than 180,000 participants so far, and was most recently in Vanderhoof.
Quote:
John Rustad, MLA Nechako Lakes –
“Since the launch of the Jobs Plan, B.C. has seen rapid job growth and is now employing a record number of people. Find Your Fit is playing a key role in keeping that trend going by introducing our youth to the job possibilities of their future. With nearly 1 million job openings anticipated by 2025, we want to ensure B.C. has a skilled and educated workforce ready to meet that demand.”
