A forest wildfire burning east of Harrison Hot Springs has prompted the closure of Sasquatch Provincial Park to protect public safety.
As of noon on Saturday, August 11, 2018, Sasquatch Park is closed by regional director’s order. A 100-hectare wildfire located off Highway 7 is burning close to the park. Due to recent growth and change in fire behaviour, campers and other park visitors will be evacuated and the park will remain closed until further notice. Park visitors with affected reservations will receive refunds. Please check the park webpage (below) for updates.
Campfires are currently banned everywhere in B.C. except within part of the Prince George Fire Centre’s jurisdiction and the Fog Zone on the west coast of Vancouver Island. To report a wildfire or open burning violation call 1 800 663-5555 or *5555 on a cellphone.
