Facts about recent upgrades to BC Parks
  • Since 2017, more than 2,000 campsites have been added to BC Parks and recreation sites in regions with the highest demand.
    • This includes 500 new campsites in Lower Mainland parks, such as Cultus Lake, Golden Ears, Chilliwack Lake, Stawamus Chief and Garibaldi.
  • In spring 2025, the gravel parking lot at Watt Creek in Cultus Lake Park was expanded to include 52 new stalls, two pit toilets and equestrian infrastructure.
    • The cost of the project is approximately $450,000.
  • In 2023, accessibility upgrades were made along the Spirea Nature Trail in Golden Ears Park.
    • The $850,000 project included upgrading five sections of boardwalk, 800 metres of trail resurfacing, new direction signs and eight accessible rest areas with benches.
