The Marion Main Forest Service Road (FSR) on Vancouver Island will be closed from Sept. 1, 2026, until Oct. 3, 2026, while the Ministry of Forests replaces a bridge that has reached the end of its service life.

The road will be closed to hikers and vehicles during the replacement. Recreational sites, including 5040 Peak, Cobalt Lake and Triple Peak Lake, will not be accessible from the Marion Main FSR during the closure.

The bridge was built in 1988. Since then, Marion Main FSR has had increased traffic to access popular recreation spots. The bridge replacement is required to ensure continued safe access and will allow maintenance of the road by the Ministry of Forests.

The replacement has been scheduled in September 2026 to meet the requirements set by Fisheries and Oceans Canada to reduce effects on fish and fish habitat.
