Skilled trades students in School District 36 will benefit from a three-year, $15-million investment by the B.C. government to support youth trades programs with the purchase of new trades training equipment.

Up to 128 Lower Mainland residents will receive the training they need for jobs in their communities, thanks to the federal/provincial partnership under the Canada-B.C. Job Fund Agreement.

The British Columbia government has committed more than $81,000 for two new labour market partnership projects with agriculture-horticulture and landscape-horticulture industries in the province, to help identify their labour needs.

The British Columbia government announced an investment of $210,000 for skills training in high-priority trades seats at BC Hydro.

Surrey-Tynehead MLA Amrik Virk announced an investment of $519,000 for skills training in high-priority trades seats at the Joint Apprentice Refrigeration Training School (JARTS).

The Province announced that it has invested through the Industry Training Authority (ITA) a combined $1,158,000 to six training providers in Surrey for skills training seats in high-priority trades.
