The Province is responding to a potential case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in a male white-tailed deer harvested east of Enderby.

The Province is encouraging rabbit owners in the mid-Vancouver Island area to take extra care after several wild rabbits were found dead in Cedar, showing symptoms of rabbit hemorrhagic disease.

As British Columbia transitions to cooler temperatures and seasonal storms, people are encouraged to prepare for the shift to fall weather, including a series of storms that may bring heavy rain and strong winds to coastal areas, starting Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025.

The Province has confirmed the presence of epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) in white-tailed deer in Grand Forks.

A deer hunt is being introduced in Cranbrook from Jan. 5-31, 2026, to reduce the risk of chronic wasting disease (CWD) spreading among B.C.’s deer populations and to increase sampling efforts to monitor the disease’s prevalence.

Ravi Parmar, Minister of Forests, has provided the following statement about extending the engagement process for modernizing the Heritage Conservation Act in B.C.:

The Province is improving the permitting process for the natural-resource sector, and members of the public are invited to provide feedback on proposals related to water management.

The public is invited to comment on proposed ministerial orders to implement the Gwa’ni land-use plan.

People are invited to share their input to help guide the development of the Xwulqw’selu (Koksilah) Water and Watershed Sustainability Plan (the Plan) and shape long-term solutions for water supply and ecosystem health.

As severe drought conditions continue to affect river levels in the Thompson Okanagan region, fish-population protection orders will protect endangered chinook salmon in the Salmon River and Bessette Creek by temporarily restricting water use for forage crops and identified industrial purposes.
