People experiencing homelessness in Abbotsford will soon have access to more than 220 new shelter spaces and supportive homes as the Province and the City of Abbotsford formalize their commitment to provide rapid supports in the community.

An important step in breaking the cycle of homelessness in Abbotsford has been completed with the closure of the Lonzo Road and Sumas Way encampment and the start of construction on a new 50-bed shelter.

The Province is working with the City of Abbotsford, BC Housing and local service providers to transition people living at the encampment at Lonzo Road and Sumas Way into safe indoor spaces to address health and safety concerns.
