The Ministry of Forests will conduct aerial-spray treatments in the Campbell River area in spring 2023 to eradicate spongy moths and minimize the risk they pose to forests, farms, orchards and trees.

To minimize the risk invasive spongy moths pose to forests, farms, orchards and urban trees, and to prevent the moths from becoming permanently established, the Ministry of Forests plans to carry out a spongy moth treatment program in Campbell River during the spring.

People in 55 B.C. communities, including Campbell River and seven other Vancouver Island municipalities, will benefit from approximately $17.3 million in grants in lieu of municipal property taxes this year.
