People experiencing homelessness in Courtenay may have access to additional support as the Province, through BC Housing, has purchased land for a proposed supportive housing and permanent overnight shelter.

Construction is underway on the first student housing at North Island College (NIC) in the Comox Valley, which will provide more than 200 students with a place to live on campus.

The Province, through BC Housing, is in the process of purchasing the Super 8 hotel in Courtenay to ensure residents of the Travelodge are not left without housing when that lease expires in late June 2023.

The Province is helping the Comox Valley Regional District build sewage infrastructure in rural areas to support the health of residents and the environment, as well as advance reconciliation with K’ómoks First Nation.

Women and children leaving violence in Courtenay will soon move into new safe and secure homes with the opening of Darry’s Place.

Construction has started on 40 new safe and secure transitional homes for women and children leaving violence in Courtenay.
