Seniors living with mental-health and addiction challenges in Nanaimo and other communities in B.C. who are at risk of becoming homeless will get more help navigating vital supports thanks to ongoing funding from the Province.

A new wellness and recovery centre in Nanaimo will expand and integrate harm reduction, and treatment and recovery services to connect people with substance-use challenges to life-saving supports.  

People in Nanaimo living with complex mental-health and substance-use challenges, and are at risk of homelessness, will benefit when the Province adds 30 complex-care housing spaces to serve the community.

Seniors throughout British Columbia will have a helping hand to connect those who are at risk of homelessness find housing and other vital mental-health supports, thanks to a provincial investment.

The Government of B.C. is providing $305,000 for HarmCheck, a drug-checking technology developed at Vancouver Island University.

To ensure people living with brain injuries in and around Nanaimo have access to the services they need, the Province is providing $65,000 to the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society to enhance and expand programs, education and support.

A new education and training program at Vancouver Island University (VIU) will enable people to train for high-demand jobs as community mental health workers.
