More students in Nanaimo School District are learning in new and modern classrooms with the addition at Dover Bay Secondary now complete.

A new wellness and recovery centre in Nanaimo will expand and integrate harm reduction, and treatment and recovery services to connect people with substance-use challenges to life-saving supports.  

Students and staff are heading back to safer classrooms now that seismic upgrades are complete at Pleasant Valley and Cilaire Elementary schools in Nanaimo. 

Vancouver Island University (VIU) is upgrading its campuses to become more inclusive and accessible.

People in Nanaimo living with complex mental-health and substance-use challenges, and are at risk of homelessness, will benefit when the Province adds 30 complex-care housing spaces to serve the community.

People in Nanaimo living with substance-use challenges have access to new sobering, assessment and stabilization services, as B.C. continues to build a comprehensive system of mental-health and addictions care.

More parents in central Vancouver Island will be able to pursue work, school and other opportunities while knowing their children are cared for as the Province invests in more than 320 new licensed child care spaces.
