Traffic signals are coming to the Highway 3A and Baker Street intersection, improving safety and mobility for people travelling into and around Nelson’s city centre.

New funding will support more people to train for jobs in much-needed positions in the Kootenays, such as digital business managers, at Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences through a new Community and Employer Partnerships (CEP) project funded by the Province.

Work is underway to enhance forest resilience to protect against the effects of wildfire and climate change in the Kootenay-Boundary region. 

The Nelson Civic Centre is getting a substantial upgrade to improve energy efficiency, decrease climate pollution and improve the comfort and lifespan of the building.

People in 55 communities throughout the province, including 19 communities in the Interior, will benefit from more than $17 million in grants in lieu of municipal property taxes this year.

A new apartment building with 39 new one-bedroom rental units designed to be affordable for members of the local workforce is now open in Nelson.
