The George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99 will be closed overnight in both directions for four consecutive nights beginning the night of Thursday, April 4, 2024, as upgrades are completed to the counterflow system.

An issue with the BC Hydro transmission line within the George Massey Tunnel requires an immediate repair to ensure the safety of the travelling public. The curb lane southbound will be closed on Wednesday afternoon while BC Hydro completes its work.

People using the George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99 are advised of a change to rush-hour counterflow operations beginning Monday, March 11, 2024, as the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure upgrades the system.

Crews worked around the clock on the weekend on repairs to the Steveston Highway crossing over Highway 99 so that two-way traffic could be restored in time for the Monday morning commute.

Drivers are advised that repairs to the Steveston Highway crossing over Highway 99 are underway with single-lane-alternating traffic in place until repairs are completed next week.
