David Eby, Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housing, and Melanie Mark, MLA for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, have released the following statement regarding Grace Seniors Home at 333 East Pender St. in Vancouver:

The Province has purchased the Burns Block building in Vancouver to provide homes with wraparound supports for women experiencing homelessness.

The Province, the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes their commitment to work together to end the Strathcona Park encampment and help prevent encampments in the future.

The Province is purchasing three properties in Vancouver to provide more housing for people experiencing homelessness, including those sleeping outside at Strathcona Park.

More people experiencing homelessness in Vancouver, including those sleeping at Strathcona Park, will soon have access to a safe, warm and secure place to stay with 24-7 support.

The Province, in partnership with the City of Vancouver and the federal government, is proposing two new permanent supportive housing developments that, if approved, would deliver approximately 230 new homes for people.

The Province, through BC Housing, is looking at options to revitalize an aging housing complex in East Vancouver.
