More Emergency Support Services (ESS) responders will be prepared to provide support to evacuees during emergencies thanks to new streamlined training.

The Province is taking action to prepare for the upcoming wildfire season by upgrading and expanding B.C.’s firefighting aviation and ground fleet, as well as equipment for ground crews.

People venturing into British Columbia’s backcountry are encouraged to create a trip plan, be informed about avalanche and weather forecasts, and be prepared for the possibility of an avalanche. 

The Province wants to hear from people about the supports available when they must evacuate their homes during a disaster. 

An international, multi-government agreement that commits to addressing flood risks and restoring salmon habitat in portions of British Columbia’s Fraser Valley and Washington state’s Whatcom County has been finalized.

Thousands of people throughout the province will be taking part in the 2023 Great British Columbia ShakeOut, by practising what to do during an earthquake.

To keep people safer and more informed during emergencies, the Province is providing funding to 19 communities to develop and upgrade emergency-evacuation-route plans and public-notification plans.
