Anne Kang, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training, has released the following statement on the news that University of British Columbia (UBC) president Santa Ono is moving on as of October 2022: 

More veterinary students from B.C. will be attending the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) on the University of Saskatchewan campus this August, following an investment from the Province to double the number of subsidized seats for the first time in more than a decade.

The B.C. government is launching a sector-wide review of how it funds operations at British Columbia’s 25 public post-secondary institutions to ensure they have the resources they need to support economic recovery and student success.

Over the next decade, our province is going to need more than 85,000 new skilled tradespeople to build and maintain the services and infrastructure British Columbians rely on every day.

Free mental-health supports are available 24 hours a day for B.C.’s post-secondary students who may be coping with anxiety, depression and other concerns.
