Twelve B.C.-based non-profit organizations will receive provincial grants for as much as $40,000 each to support community-based projects that advance accessibility and inclusion in B.C.

The Province is awarding the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) a $2.5-million grant to expand its employment program dedicated to blind or partially sighted people.

The Province has appointed 30 people to help develop British Columbia’s first two standards for accessibility: the employment accessibility standard and the accessible service delivery standard.

To further reduce period poverty and increase access to free menstrual products, applications for funding are open.

Nicholas Simons, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, and Dan Coulter, Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility, have released the following statement in recognition of Disability Employment Month:

A range of community services for people with disabilities throughout B.C. will be expanded, thanks to a provincial grant of $3 million over three years.

Thirty sites in eight municipalities and two Indigenous communities are receiving grants through the Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) to support the creation of more welcoming, inclusive places for people living with disabilities.
