Snuneymuxw First Nation and the Province are taking a major step in their shared reconciliation journey with a completed transfer of 212 hectares of land on Te'tuxwtun, known as Mount Benson East.

Murray Rankin, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, has issued the following statement to mark Louis Riel Day:

The Province and Tahltan Central Government have committed to begin discussions regarding a third decision-making agreement between the two governments related to the collaborative assessment of proposed changes to the previously approved Galore Creek copper and gold mine.

Cabinet and First Nations Leaders’ Gathering, working together to recognize, respect and advance government-to-government relationships.

The Tla’amin Nation and the Province have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) committing to work together on a future for tiskʷat that furthers economic reconciliation and environmental stewardship in the region.

After productive conversations between the Province, Lil’wat Nation and N’Quatqua, the parties have reached an agreement for the reopening of Pipi7iekw (Joffre Lakes Park).

Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) has purchased, with funding from the Province of British Columbia, the private property on which the St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School operated between 1891 and 1981.
