As winter approaches, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is readying Lower Mainland highways and bridges to keep people and goods moving safely and efficiently during inclement weather.

A new northern community shuttle funding program will sustain and enhance access to services and amenities, friends and family, and other transportation services in B.C.’s North.

Effective at 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov.  23, 2021, travel restrictions will be in place on Highway 7 from Murray Street in Mission to Highway 1 in Hope.

Highway 3 has reopened for goods movement and people travelling for essential purposes only following a closure to conduct a geotechnical assessment.

Flood waters in the Abbotsford area continue to recede allowing the eastbound lanes on Highway 1 between Highway 11 east to Cole Road to be open for emergency access to agricultural operations in the area.   

A route to the southern interior of British Columbia is open for goods movement and people travelling for essential purposes only, using Highway 7 and Highway 3.

Highway 7 to Hope is open for essential travel, which will help people reach their homes and the movement of goods and services.

Work is currently underway on the Alex Fraser Bridge until early on Monday, Nov. 15, as crews repair the bridge joints. Drivers are advised that weekend lane closures are necessary to safely perform this regular bridge maintenance.  

The Province and BC Hydro have released recommendations from Phase 2 of the BC Hydro Review to get more electric vehicles on the road.
