Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, have released the following statement regarding the BC Coroners Service’s Review of Heat-Related Deaths in B.C. in Summer 2021 report:

A panel of subject-matter experts has identified the need for a co-ordinated heat alert response system, identification and support of vulnerable populations, and implementation of prevention and longer-term risk mitigation strategies as key areas of focus to prevent loss of life in future extreme heat events in B.C.

People, businesses and public-sector organizations can now view and bid on procurement opportunities on the newly launched BC Bid site, the Province’s online procurement marketplace.

 A new permanent supportive housing building with 51 safe and secure homes will soon be available in Vernon for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

New funding for the BC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program will help improve access to healthy, locally grown food for lower-income British Columbians and people who are pregnant, while increasing the number of Elders and seniors participating in the program.

The Province has received the final report from Austin Cullen, the commissioner of a public inquiry examining the full scope of money laundering in British Columbia.  

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has proactively closed Highway 1 on Friday, June 3, 2022, between Lytton and Spences Bridge due to forecasted rain and potential for debris flows.
