A key bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway at the site of a washout in the November 2021 flooding is nearing completion and has received an Indigenous name celebrating neighbouring communities in the Fraser Canyon. 

People, property and businesses in and around Grand Forks will be further protected from floodwaters with the construction of a new dike and drainage system, the latest component of the city’s flood mitigation program.

Final repairs to the flood-damaged section of Highway 11 at Willband Creek in Abbotsford will begin on Monday, April 29, 2024, and drivers are advised that traffic pattern changes will be in place throughout the project.

The Fisher Creek bridge will undergo a replacement and road improvements, offering drivers a safer, more reliable passage along the Highway 97 Pine Pass corridor.
