Niki Sharma, Attorney General, and Mable Elmore, Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism Initiatives, have released the following statement marking Asian Heritage Month:

Indigenous and racialized people in B.C. will face fewer barriers when accessing public programs and services with new legislation aimed at removing systemic racism from provincial institutions.

New legislation will help keep kids safe and focused on their education by preventing disruptive behaviour, including aggressive protests, on school grounds.

Nearly 80 people and organizations were nominated for the 2024 B.C. Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards, honouring their efforts to combat racism and create a more inclusive B.C.

Premier David Eby has issued the following statement marking International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination:

The Province is going after wrongdoers to recover the costs of public-health harms their products cause to people.  

Families that are eligible to receive or pay family support will now find it easier to access resources with a new mobile app and a distinctions-based approach that will lower barriers to free services.

People who have had their intimate images or videos shared without consent have new supports to get them off the internet, stop their distribution, and seek monetary compensation.

The Province is moving forward on three important actions to keep kids and young people safe from online threats, restrict cellphones in school and hold social media companies accountable.
