British Columbia has surpassed 30,500 new child care spaces funded since the launch of ChildCareBC in 2018, giving parents greater ability to pursue work, school and other opportunities while knowing their children are cared for.

Following the flooding in November 2021, the Province is making significant changes to ensure more people, communities and businesses can access and receive increased benefits from British Columbia’s Disaster Financial Assistance program.

Students and staff in Richmond can learn and work in seismically safer schools now that upgrades are complete at Maple Lane and F.A. Tomsett elementary schools. More seismic upgrades are also on the way, with work beginning at James Whiteside and William Bridge elementary schools.

British Columbians are invited to provide feedback on what types of work are too hazardous to be done by youth under age 16, and in some cases, under 19.

More parents in Richmond and New Westminster will be able to pursue work, school and other opportunities while knowing their children are cared for as the Province invests in more than 160 new licensed child care spaces.

People in health-care facilities in the Lower Mainland are benefiting from stable, consistent and supportive patient care as more support service workers, who were previously contracted out, return as Fraser Health employees.

A survey about B.C’s new service approach for children and youth with support needs is now open to the public.
