With seven matches to be played in Vancouver during the FIFA World Cup 26 tournament, the Province, City of Vancouver and BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) have updated their estimates of the costs, revenues and economic benefits for the world’s largest single sporting event.

More than 220 B.C. musicians and music companies are being supported by four Amplify BC programs to develop their careers and businesses.

Thirty-one new infrastructure tourism projects will help enhance visitor experiences and create vibrant communities throughout the province.

Nearly 140 sport organizations throughout the province are benefiting from $1 million in support from the Province to host sport-related events that attract visitors to B.C. and enable athletes to compete at home.

The Province is providing $30 million to support B.C.-based events in response to calls from the sector for more help.

The Province has provided funding to approximately 100 organizations through its Tourism Events Program (TEP) to build B.C.’s reputation as an events destination and increase visitation.

Government is providing $4 million in post-pandemic recovery funding to reignite the amateur sport sector by rebuilding sport membership and bolstering volunteerism.

FIFA has confirmed that Vancouver has been chosen as an official host city for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Business events and workforce support initiatives, such as hiring and retaining employees, in the tourism sector will receive more than $9.3 million over the next two years as part of the Tourism Recovery Initiatives Action Plan.
