Groundbreaking data that tracks the number of people who experienced homelessness in B.C. will help government better understand the factors that contribute to homelessness, and better support people in finding stable housing and services that meet their needs.

Murray Rankin, Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housing, has issued the following statement in recognition of Homelessness Action Week, Oct. 9-15, 2022:

People experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Richmond are moving into new safe and secure homes with the opening of a 40-unit temporary supportive housing building.

The most-recent class of B.C. Sheriff Service recruits has graduated at the Vancouver Law Courts after completing their training through the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC).

The Province has released the findings of an external review of BC Housing’s organizational capacity and financial systems, in consideration of government’s historic $7-billion investment in affordable housing and the rapid growth of the Crown corporation.

The Province, through BC Housing, has purchased the North Shore Inn in Nelson to provide 30 homes with supports for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

People in need of a warm, safe place to stay during the cold, wet winter months will have access to additional emergency shelter spaces.

A new temporary supportive housing building with 40 safe and secure homes will soon be available for people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in Richmond.
