David Eby, Attorney General, has issued the following statement on the opening of the new integrated court in Kelowna: 

The Province, through BC Housing, has purchased the former Canada’s Best Value Inn in Langley to provide nearly 50 homes with supports for people experiencing homelessness in the community.

The Province, through BC Housing, has purchased the Capital City Center Hotel, which will provide nearly 100 temporary supportive homes for people experiencing homelessness in Victoria.

The Province, the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes their commitment to work together to end the Strathcona Park encampment and help prevent encampments in the future.

David Eby, Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housing, has released the following statement about the Province’s decision to apply for a partial stay of proceedings with respect to the B.C. Supreme Court’s recent decision about Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) jurisdiction over motor vehicle injury disputes:

The Province is purchasing three properties in Vancouver to provide more housing for people experiencing homelessness, including those sleeping outside at Strathcona Park.

The Province is amending regulations to allow email as a method of service between landlords and tenants, making it easier for people to participate in the dispute resolution process.

The Province is partnering with the Progressive Housing Society on two new projects that will deliver 43 new supportive homes, along with 45 new shelter spaces, for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Burnaby.

The Province, through BC Housing, has signed a lease with GSL Group that will allow the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre (SOFMC) to be used again for temporary housing beginning in March.
