The Province is significantly increasing the funding many service providers rely on to deliver thousands of registered or licensed treatment and recovery beds throughout B.C. as part of Budget 2024.  

The Province is making changes to three laws so it can better help people get out of poverty.

More people will benefit from stronger and better-connected services, such as health supports, housing and food security, with government funding to develop a formal B.C. non-profit network.

Families with low incomes, immigrants and refugees, and seniors struggling to put food on the table in the Lower Mainland will have better access to healthy and culturally appropriate food with $300,000 funding to the Immigrant Link Centre Society.

More people are training for jobs as early childhood educators in the Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria area thanks to a government-funded Community and Employer Partnership project (CEP).

First Nations young people and governments will benefit from financial support to the First Nations Public Service Secretariat (FNPSS) to develop and deliver training for current and future First Nation government administrations, programs to increase youth employment, and mentorship and networking events.

People in B.C. will benefit from community support, arts and culture services, and support to find affordable housing, as the Province provides additional grants for non-profit organizations building healthier, more inclusive and stronger communities.

People in northern B.C. struggling to put food on the table will have better and more reliable access to healthy food with $5 million in funding to Food Banks BC and the Public Health Association of BC (PHABC).
