With heavy rain in the forecast, Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon will be closed from midnight tonight until approximately 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Following additional consultation, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure alongside the City of Delta and other local stakeholders has decided to reschedule repairs to the Highway 17A crossing over Highway 99 until 2024.

The public is invited to learn more about work being done to lessen movement of two complex landslides in Williams Lake. 

Delta residents and drivers in the region are advised that permanent repairs to the Highway 17A crossing over Highway 99 will begin on Thursday, Nov. 9, with detours and partial lane closures occurring over the next eight weeks, mostly in the evenings.

Work to stabilize the rockslide on Highway 97 north of Summerland continues with more planned blasting and rock removal from the slide site.

Drivers are advised that winter conditions are expected in the southern Interior as a Pacific storm brings snow and possible freezing rain, starting today.

The public is invited to learn more about two projects that will help improve safety, stability and reliability on Cariboo roads affected by slides and washouts.   

People travelling the Highway 1-Malahat corridor now have a smoother, faster journey with the completion of repairs to the Tunnel Hill section that was washed out by heavy rain and floods in 2021.
