A new web camera on Highway 97 in Dawson Creek is now live on the Province's DriveBC website, providing real-time coverage of highway conditions in the area and helping motorists plan a safer, easier journey.

This camera is located near the intersection of Mason Semple Road 237 and the John Hart Highway near Dawson Creek. Both of these routes are important for local residents and industry users in the South Peace area, and this webcam has been installed in a prime location for road users to get the best information in advance of their travels.

This is the second webcam in Dawson Creek and the seventh on Highway 97 in B.C.'s Northern Region. To view the new camera, go to: http://prd.images.drivebc.ca/bchighwaycam/pub/html/www/253.html

DriveBC provides timely road condition updates, travel advisories, road closure information for provincial highways, weather information and other important links to the travelling public, to help ensure easier, safer trips.

Quote:

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Blair Lekstrom -

"This new webcam is important for motorists travelling through the Peace River region, with the high traffic volumes and often challenging weather conditions. It will let travellers get a real-time view of what's happening on the roads and help them plan the safest trip possible."

Quick Facts:

  • DriveBC is the Province of B.C.'s most popular website.
  • The Province launched the DriveBC website in 2005.
  • DriveBC receives an average of 2.9 million visits per month.
