Examples of age-friendly projects in B.C. communities include:

  • Sidewalk improvements so seniors can walk two-by-two in Harrison Hot Springs.
  • Tapping into older adults’ knowledge in Pitt Meadows by partnering local elementary schools with seniors’ centres to create reading buddies programs and an intergenerational community garden.
  • Creating a seniors’ lunch program and work on a potential seniors’ housing development and accessibility improvements for local parks and trails in Cobble Hill.
  • A weekly creativity program and caregivers’ circle for those with dementia in West Vancouver.
  • An age-friendly outdoor fitness park in Oliver.
