Facts about supports for tree fruit growers
  • Examples of eligible uses for the one-time payment include tools, training, capital for farm improvement, farm debt repayment and farm wages.
  • Approximately 720 tree fruit growers will be eligible for a payment on a per-acre basis, up to a maximum of 28.3 hectares (70 acres).
  • The Province has delivered more than $237 million in support to tree fruit growers since 2020, including more than $175 million in business risk-management payments.
  • Other support from government includes:
    • the tree fruit climate resiliency program;
    • enhanced replant program;
    • perennial crop renewal program;
    • AgriStability Enhancement program;
    • Buy BC;
    • support for marketing and promotion of B.C. apples; and
    • funding to support the Tree Fruit Industry Stabilization Plan. 
  • The one-time financial support payment also addresses one of the recommendations in B.C.’s Tree Fruit Stabilization Plan, which outlined challenges and potential solutions for the sector and was endorsed by and involved extensive consultations with industry.
