Drivers are advised that Highway 4 between Port Alberni Summit and Chalet Road will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Repairs to the shoulder and to fix the bank erosion next to the westbound lane near Cameron Lake will require a temporary closure to bring in equipment and set up the site. This repair will take place near the new weather station.
After Dec. 17, 2025, work next to the highway will focus on building safe access and stabilizing the slope with rip-rap, which are rocks to prevent soil erosion. The remaining work will continue with minimal impact to traffic. It is expected to be finished by late January 2026.
An additional closure will be required at the end of the project to safely remove equipment. Details will be shared with the public once available.
Drivers are asked to obey traffic-control personnel. For up-to-date information about road conditions, visit: https://DriveBC.ca
