Motor Vehicle Closures established under the Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulation of the Wildlife Act in October 2021 are still in place.

Backcountry road users are advised that the roads closed in October 2021 across the Thompson Okanagan region, following 15 severe wildfires, will remain closed.

The B.C. government has provided more than $3.5 million in grants to 26 local governments and First Nations in the Kamloops Fire Centre to support wildfire-risk-reduction initiatives and help keep communities safe.

Due to severe wildfire damage in areas of the Thompson Okanagan and one area in the Kootenays, 15 motor-vehicle closures under the Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulation of the Wildlife Act are in effect.

As B.C. continues to experience dry conditions and aggressive wildfire activity, international support for the Province’s wildfire response has received another welcome boost with the arrival of 34 Australian firefighting personnel.

Drought is affecting much of British Columbia, including many parts of the southern and central Interior.

The BC Wildfire Service is issuing a wind advisory for the Interior, southern Interior and southeastern B.C. from Tuesday, July 20 to Thursday, July 22, 2021.
