The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a wildfire burning in Farwell Canyon, B.C. and roughly 22 kilometres south of Riske Creek, B.C.

The BC Wildfire Service is advising the public that smoke may be visible from the Alaska Highway and Highway 37, due to wildfires burning in the Blue River and Ne’Ah’ Conservancy areas of northern British Columbia.

The BC Wildfire Service responded to 32 abandoned campfires over the B.C. Day long weekend in the Southeast Fire Centre. The public is being urged to be more careful with fire use to help reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires.

BC Wildfire Service crews are continuing suppression efforts on a wildfire burning in the Homathko River-Tatlayoko Protected Area, about 220 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake.

With the return of higher temperatures and drier conditions in many parts of the province this week, wildfire danger ratings are once again on the rise.

British Columbia’s provincial parks are not the only places where residents and visitors can enjoy camping. Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) offers approximately 8,500 sites for camping at 1,700 locations in B.C.’s great outdoors.

BC Wildfire Service crews are responding to a 14-hectare wildfire burning in the Homathko River-Tatlayoko Protected Area, near the junction of the Homathko River and Mosley Creek, about 220 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake.

The BC Wildfire Service is reminding the public that the use of fireworks is banned in the Southeast Fire Centre, as part of the Category 2 and Category 3 open burning prohibitions implemented earlier this year to help reduce wildfire risks.

The Province has strengthened regulations to ensure that hunters do not use flying drones to help them track wildlife, Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Steve Thomson announced.
