The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations will be conducting a series of controlled burns in the Southeast Fire Centre to enhance wildlife habitat. These burns will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday Sept. 1, 2016.

Effective at noon on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, Category 2 open burns are once again allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre. While fire danger ratings have dropped with the recent rain, the public is encouraged to still exercise caution with any campfires or outdoor burning.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a wildfire burning about two kilometres northwest of Norman Lake and about 30 kilometres west of Prince George. As of 4:00 p.m., the fire covered 10 hectares.
