With seven matches to be played in Vancouver during the FIFA World Cup 26 tournament, the Province, City of Vancouver and BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) have updated their estimates of the costs, revenues and economic benefits for the world’s largest single sporting event.

The Province is creating more opportunities for young athletes to develop skills and participate in high-performance competitions while supporting the social and economic benefits of sport hosting for local communities.

More than 220 B.C. musicians and music companies are being supported by four Amplify BC programs to develop their careers and businesses.

Thirty-one new infrastructure tourism projects will help enhance visitor experiences and create vibrant communities throughout the province.

To support the 111th Grey Cup in Vancouver, the Province is providing $3.5 million for a six-day fan festival and to create legacy projects that will benefit the tourism sector and local communities.

Nearly 140 sport organizations throughout the province are benefiting from $1 million in support from the Province to host sport-related events that attract visitors to B.C. and enable athletes to compete at home.

The Province is providing $30 million to support B.C.-based events in response to calls from the sector for more help.

The Province is fulfilling a longstanding commitment to invest an additional $50 million toward a new home for the Vancouver Art Gallery to protect and support the expansion of a cultural and tourism icon in B.C.

Government is providing $4 million in post-pandemic recovery funding to reignite the amateur sport sector by rebuilding sport membership and bolstering volunteerism.
