The legislation that recognizes the Haida Nation’s Aboriginal title throughout Haida Gwaii received royal assent in the B.C. legislature on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

People will be safer on B.C.’s roads with another round of support for 56 more communities that will further help prevent serious injuries and deaths.

Emergency support services are available to people who are under evacuation order within the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, including Fort Nelson and Fort Nelson First Nation due to wildfire.

Drivers are advised of overnight traffic diversions and single-lane closures on Highway 1 between 216th Street and 232nd Street, beginning Saturday, May 11, 2024.

People travelling in northern B.C. can soon expect smoother journeys as crews pave and resurface 260 kilometres of highways and side roads this summer.

Work has begun in B.C.’s southern Interior to upgrade 482 kilometres of highways and side roads, renewing driving surfaces for local residents, travellers and the movement of goods.
