What to know about funding sources

6488 Byrnepark Dr.:

  • The Province, through BC Housing, is investing $23.5 million.
  • The federal government, through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, is contributing $10.6 million through the Affordable Housing Fund.
  • The City of Burnaby owns the land valued at $13 million and is leasing it to M’akola at a nominal fee.
  • The city is also contributing $1.4 million in waived fees.
  • Metro Vancouver is contributing approximately $550,000 in waived fees.

Eunice Oh Residence (7898-18 Ave.):

  • The Province, through BC Housing, provided approximately $2.5 million from the Building BC: Community Housing Fund, as well as approximately $133,000 in annual operating funding.
  • $1 million was contributed through joint funding under Canada-British Columbia Bilateral Agreement, National Housing Strategy.
  • The City of Burnaby provided the land assessed at more than $2.5 million and is leasing it to The New Vista Society at a nominal rate. 
  • The city is also contributing approximately $1.2 million in municipal and regional waived fees.

New Vista Place and Ernest Winch Tower (7210 and 7216 Mary Ave.):

  • The Province, through BC Housing, is investing $13.6 million for essential repairs and upgrades to the New Vista Place Tower and Ernest Winch Tower through the Capital Renewal Fund.
  • The federal government, through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, is contributing $8.7 million through the Affordable Housing Fund toward additional electrical and mechanical upgrades to the buildings.
