Facts about B.C.'s diversity and inclusion programs
  • Budget 2021 provided $30 million to support initiatives in B.C. communities to mark 150 years since B.C. joined Confederation by recognizing and creating awareness about reconciliation and learning, diversity and inclusion, and resiliency for the next 150 years.
  • As part of the 150 Time Immemorial program funding, the First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation and Heritage BC will each receive a further $5-million endowment for additional programs to be announced by the agencies later.
  • The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations will also distribute $2.5 million to not-for-profit groups operating heritage sites on Crown lands.
  • Application deadlines for 150 Time Immemorial programs will vary, based on program guidelines available through program partners at the First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation and Heritage BC.
  • The First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation raises funds to support reconciliation through the revitalization of Indigenous languages, and arts and cultural heritage in B.C., and works closely with the First Peoples’ Cultural Council.
  • The First Peoples’ Cultural Council is an Indigenous-led provincial Crown Corporation that provides subject-area expertise on Indigenous cultural heritage and community needs, develops community-based programs, and provides project resources and support.
  • Heritage BC supports and advocates for B.C.'s broad heritage sector through education, training and skills development, capacity building in heritage planning and funding through the Heritage Legacy Fund.
