BC Hydro has added a new solar-energy project to the clean-energy projects selected to advance from its call for power.

The Province of B.C.’s Columbia River Treaty team is hosting a virtual information session on Dec. 19, 2024, to share updates and answer questions about efforts underway to modernize the treaty.

Seven remote First Nations in B.C. are getting support from the Province to launch clean-energy projects focused on lowering emissions, helping to save energy costs and protecting the environment.

BC Hydro has received a strong response to its call for new renewable power-generation projects while it continues to build out and strengthen B.C.’s electricity grid, creating jobs and supporting clean growth in communities such as Vancouver.

Josie Osborne, Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, has released the following statement in celebration of the restart of operations at Quintette Mine in Tumbler Ridge: 

The Province is building on the progress it has made to cut harmful methane emissions by strengthening its regulations for the oil and gas sector.
