Planning underway for future Malahat (Highway 1) upgrades

Drivers are advised to plan for an overnight closure of Highway 1 east of Lynn Valley Road on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026.

Drivers are advised of upcoming overnight traffic diversions on Highway 1 between Glover Road and 248th Street, starting as early as Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026. 

Nighttime closures are planned this weekend on the Coquitlam River Bridge upgrade project, on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026.

Starting the morning of Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, the on-ramp to Highway 17 southbound from Keating Cross Road will be open to traffic.

Drivers are advised to plan for additional overnight detours along Highway 1 at the 264th Street Interchange, as work continues to advance on the project.

Drivers are advised to plan for traffic-pattern changes along highways 1 and 3 westbound near Hope starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. Temporary highway closures and detours are planned due to emergency repair work on sections of these highways affected by December flooding.
