The Province is partnering with communities in a grassroots effort to help families live healthier lifestyles and prevent chronic disease.

Premier Christy Clark has issued the following message celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Sikh Gurdwara Temple in Abbotsford: "In 1908, local Sikhs, most of them new to Canada, began work on a temple in Abbotsford. It took them four years and countless hours of physical and emotional effort before it was completed. Now, 100 years later, Sikhs and non-Sikhs continue to gather to celebrate the beautiful Sikh Gurdwara Temple."

British Columbia's Community Gaming Grant Review will stop in Abbotsford with a community forum scheduled for the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre on Monday, Aug. 29.

A high-tech Mobile Medical Unit that acts as a mini-hospital and will be used across the province to provide medical services for B.C. families was unveiled by Minister of Health Michael de Jong, in partnership with the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA).

Abbotsford residents requiring hospice care will soon be able to receive the services they need in their own community. The B.C. government is providing $3.5 million to support hospice services through the Abbotsford Hospice Society.
