The Government of British Columbia is providing a $24,000 grant to help manage the spread of invasive plants on northern Vancouver Island, North Island MLA Claire Trevena announced on behalf of Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development .

The public is invited to attend a community open house and participate in a discussion about the 2018 gypsy moth spray program in Campbell River.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing $1.28 million for four projects on northern Vancouver Island and the central coast, North Island MLA Claire Trevena announced today on behalf of Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.

As part of its rural development mandate, the Government of British Columbia is providing $10,000 each to the BC Marine Trails Network Association, Cortes Island Seniors Society and the Village of Gold River, Claire Trevena, MLA for North Island announced today.

BC Timber Sales (BCTS) forestry operations in the Snowden Forest, north of John Hart Lake, are planned to restart in spring 2018, with operational phases continuing through 2019.

The Province is providing $95,000 so 10 Aboriginal students in the Campbell River-area can learn the skills needed for employment in the British Columbia road building and forestry machinery sector.

Members of the public are advised that sections of  the Rail Trail and the Elk River Timber Trail in the Beaver Lodge Forest Lands in Campbell River will be temporarily closed between January and April 2016 – weather permitting – to replace five bridges on the trails.
